Is Social Work Education Relevant to Child Welfare Practice? A Qualitative Analysis from the Adult Learner Perspective.

Abstrakt: The article discusses the study which is conducted as part of the expectation for one school of social work to provide an evaluation of a developed partnership between a university and public child welfare agency in Indiana. A qualitative survey was developed to address the federal requirement for this aspect of program evaluation and a qualitative study was conducted to ascertain the subjective experience of public child welfare workers in a Masters of Social Work program. The study aims to assess the consumer's satisfaction of the Title IV-E-funded partnership. It focuses on the findings produced from the qualitative evaluation which include the structure of the educational experience and development of a conceptual model of how social work education influences worker retention.
