The article reports on the interconnection circuits at highway-rail grade crossings established by the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) in the wake of the October 25, 1995, collision between a commuter train and a school bus in Chicago, Illinois. The USDOT convened a Grade Crossing Safety Task Force, Technical Working Group as a result of the collision, to review existing standards and guidelines as well as develop new ones on several grade-crossing safety issues. |
