The article reports on the results of a project which assessed the profitability and risk associated with converting a furrow irrigation systems to center pivot and lateral move (CPLM) irrigation systems. Irrigators who are considering such an investment must consider a number of factors. The size of each farm and the cropping system without the CPLM irrigation system and with the CPLM installed was analyzed to determine the annual operating profit. Cash flow of the business was analyzed, including debt repayments, drawings by investors and taxation. |
