People go online daily for business, fun, and entertainment. As the Internet expands and more people surf the web, hackers find greater opportunities to victimize online users anywhere in the world. Taking advantage of potential victims’ online preferences and activities, hackers continually attempt to plant computer viruses and worms. Unfortunately, law enforcement has failed to keep up with technological advances to prevent cyber-crime. The purpose of this study is to examine cyber-crime victimization. Using data from a survey of college students, this study examines computer hacking from a theoretical perspective that integrates lifestyle exposure and routine activities theories. ..PAT.-Unpublished Manuscript [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
