The article reports on the introduction of the South and Southeast Asian religious art to the collection of the Art Gallery of New South Wales in Sydney. Included in the collection is the Hinduism art which represents major gods, Vishnu and Shiva. Moreover, a painting which belongs to the ragamala series also comprised the collection, depicting a concept which is unique to the Indian tradition. Another religious art is the Gandharan bodhisattva, which is considered one of the earliest sculptures which pertains Buddhism. |
