Abstrakt: This article discusses the effort of the U.S. government to help gay men with HIV in 2007. According to the author, despite the effort, the number of gay men with HIV increased. He attributes the increase to optimism in light of HIV treatment advances, decreases in funding to AIDS service organizations, and the higher rates of depression in the gay community. To address the problem, the author suggests a paradigm shift, in the manner with which the government and the gay community conduct HIV prevention work.
