Abstrakt: The article discusses art in Denmark during the 17th century. It provides a short background on the life of Frederick III who reigned from 1648 to 1670. It cites the efforts of Frederick's son, Christian V, to strengthen Copenhagen's fortifications after the war in Sweden in 1660. Lambert van Haven was appointed director of all artistic projects in the kingdom in 1671. Christian V is said to be the only Danish King to have been painted frequently.
