The article focuses on the chimney-piece being dispatched by sculptor Francis Harwood of Florence, Italy to his patron, the Earl of Charlemont. This piece is conformed in certain respects to a design published by architect William Chambers in his "Treatise." It is believed that the chimney-piece is destined for the Saloon of Charlemont's Casino at Marino in Dublin. The author stresses that if this substructure was made in Dublin, it would have been executed under the direction of sculpture and stone-mason Simon Vierpyle. |
