The article attempts to examine sketches and drawings of furniture and objects designed by architect Charles Percier for the palace of Saint-Cloud. One of them depicts a bedside table decorated with a cameo head of Diana crowned with laurel, a lamp, torches at the corners and stars in the frieze, and front feet with claws. The second drawing is a sheet of studies for a cheval glass supported on recumbent lions. The third groups together several pieces of furniture for a bedroom, such as a fauteuil gondole with arm-rests in the form of swans, an x-shaped stool, a pedestal and candelabrum. |
