The article presents an analysis of the final or primary reads offered by teleradiology providers, which provides true economic value to the local in-house radiology group. The authors revealed a 63% internal rate of return on an initial investment into outsourced radiology services for daytime, nighttime and weekend casework when the demand for those radiology services is equal to 30% of an additional full-time equivalent (FTE) employee. Assumptions used in the analysis are cited, such as the final reports provided by the teleradiology service. |
