Abstrakt: The article focuses on the renewal from nature of Jugendstil in Germany. It mentions that the first examples of ornament which include the living form of the plant to be stylized into the composition can be found in pattern books as early as the 1830s. Architect Hermann Wilhelm Eberhard came up with formulations that have amazing parallels with Jugendstil, particularly with the work of artist Otto Eckmann. It describes the works of Moritz Meurer, teacher of decorative painting at the Königliche Schule of the Kunstgewerbemuseum in Berlin.
