| Abstrakt: | The article presents an analysis of Andy Laverne's composition "A Year From Yesterday." The piece is in the form of triads and functional ii-V progressions with modal sounds and slash chords. The tune is in A Major has a brighter timbre that could challenge its improviser for one's vocabulary might be limited to flat keys. Moreover, the advantages of using the A Major include increase in vocabulary and better understanding of the vocabulary in lesser-played keys. |
