Abstrakt: |
The article presents an analysis on several dikes situated in the Kingdom of Powys, England. Several dikes constructed in the Welsh borderland is considered as historic earthwork. These barriers are built in coherent group in accordance to the geographic character of the region. Short dikes are associated in the longer dikes such as "Offa's Dike" and "Wat's Dike." Several dikes that can be found in the region are the "Wantyn Dike" in the vale of Kerry, "Shepherd's Well Dike" in the Radnor forest, and "Giant's Grave Dike" in southern Montgomeryshire. Research conducted to determine the origin of the dikes showed that its construction was dated during the medieval period. |
