Abstrakt: The article discusses the role of man-made light in architecture. The author believes that the language of lighting makes architecture memorable. The said language begins with the relationship between the three S, which is sources, systems, and surfaces. He explains that the sources are the lamps, the systems include the various ways to illuminate the spaces, and the surfaces are the planes receiving light. The author also narrates his first publicized design at the faculty club at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He also cited several lighting landmarks such as the Humbolt Library in Germany, the Mountain View Civic Center in California, and the American Club in Hong Kong.
