The concentration of Zn, Cd, Cu, Pb, Ni, Cr, Co, Fe and Mn has been determined in the plants of the undergrowth in Kampinos Forest. Plants commonly growing in the forest have been selected for the analysis: bilberry, sheep sorrel, five-leaf, soft grass and sedge. A high content of manganese has been observed in bilberry, as well as the narrow Fe:Mn ratio (below 1) in all plants excluding five-leaf. The content of the analysed heavy metals did not vary between the particular plant species and was typical of unpolluted areas. Only the concentration of Co exceeded the natural content in all analysed plant species. Zn concentrated mainly in the stems of bilberry, five-leaf and sedge, whereas a distinctly higher Cu content in stems than in leaves was observed for sheep sorrel, five-leaf and sedge. Soft grass showed a distinct trend to accumulate more metals (Zn, Cu, Ni, Co) in leaves than in stems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
