The objective of this paper was to evaluate so called natural values of zinc contents as well as its spatial distribution in soils of the Wielkopolska Lake District mesoregions with the use of statistic and geostatistic methods. The total zinc and its baseline concentration in surface horizon of soils were determined using Swanson-Huffman's procedure. The observed range of Zn concentrations in the area studied varied between 15.6 and 98.4 mg⋅kg-1, and the expected 95% range for this element was between 18.0 and 73.6 mg⋅kg-1. As a convenient tool to present and interpret the information gained from the analysis of individual samples a map was drawn. Local enrichment in zinc occurred in the plough-humus horizon of soils near urban agglomerations of the region, which may indicate their impact on the soil environment including zinc concentration. Differentiated zinc concentrations in soils of specific regions of the mesoregion under study resulted from a spacial variability of soils of the Wielkopolska Lake District. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
