The article reports on the fear of residents of CapeTown through the negative media perception of White Sharks in South Africa. It states that the increase in marine water sports is linked to the dramatic change in the city itself. After 1994, the city exploded into a major local and world attraction for tourists, vacationers, and marine ecotourists. On the other hand, a high number of shark-bite incidents off South Africa in 1998 and 1999, caused a media feeding frenzy in the city and was transmitted internationally. |
