This article reveals some improvements in family casework in behalf of children. The author notes that the child's emotional problems can best be handled by assisting the parents, particularly the mother, to help their child. She stresses the importance of the mother's role. On the other hand, she claims that the father's role differs in accordance with the child's age, the nature of his problem and a variety of factors within the family relation. She asserts that a number of methods can be applied in working with mothers and their young children, such as the direct treatment of the mother for the purpose of bringing about changes in her own personality. |
