Abstrakt: Chapter 6 of the book "Child Welfare Revisited: An Africentric Perspective" is presented. It deals with the child-rearing practices in African American families. Parenting styles of African American families with regards to the socialization of their children are shown. Values on parental expectations include their educational commitment, self-help and service to others.
