Abstrakt: Chapter 5 of the book "Child Welfare Revisited: An Africentric Perspective" is presented. It defines the role of each Af rican American family member including the provision of financial resources. Extended family members function as support systems in child rearing responsibilities. The influence of family structure on child-rearing behaviors are assessed.
