| Abstrakt: | The article examines the methods of combating the opium trade in Iran. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime reported that 60 percent of the opiates produced in Afghanistan enter Iran and Iran is accounted for 83 percent of global opium seizures and 18 percent of global heroin and morphine seizures in 2004. The counter-narcotics efforts in Iran focus on supply interdiction and strengthening the eastern border to prevent drug trafficking from Afghanistan. |
