Abstrakt: The article discusses the history of the National Association of Piano Tuners (NAPT) and the American Society of Piano Tuner-Technicians (ASPTT) in the U.S. during the 1940s. NAPT began to encounter some opposition during the period. There were only 38 piano manufacturers by 1941. ASPTT was formed by the Illinois Tuners Association. Annual conventions were held by NAPT during the early 1940s except in 1943 and 1945.
