Abstrakt: The article features the late Egyptian novelist Naguib Mahfouz whose works reflect the Arab Muslim world. Mahfouz won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1988. His book "Cairo Trilogy" depicts the life of Egyptian family in the early 20th century. His novel "Children of Gebelaawi" was condemned by Fundamentalist Muslims because it symbolized the evolution of Western religions with characters representing characters including the prophets Moses, Jesus and Muhammad.
