Abstrakt: The article presents a study that investigates the effects of two pieces of music at separate points along a single exciting-calming dimension on galvanic skin response or electrodermal response of depressive and schizophrenic patients. The study is divided into two separate experiments. The first experiment uses depressive patients as subject, while the second uses schizophrenic patients. The results suggest that the decrease in electrical resistance due to the exciting music was of greater magnitude and shorter latency than the increase in resistance because of calming music for both depressive and schizophrenic patients.
