The article presents a study on the failure of ethnic Utopianism in South Africa. The failure of South Africa in social development is attributed to several factors including the race factor, religious dimension, a colonial and frontier history, and the perennial methodological problems in the social sciences. The study attempts to describe the nature and substance of the social vision promulgated by the dominant political forces in South Africa, and discusses the human, economic, and political consequences of this effort to shape the society. |
