Abstrakt: | The article presents an encyclopedia entry for British philosopher John Ellicott. Ellicott was a well-known clock maker and watchmaker and served as checkmate to King George III in the eighteenth century. He conducted a number of experiments inquiring into the laws of physics and motions, and wrote several papers on these. He also wrote on astronomy and the motion of the moon. He published in 1748 the paper "Essay Towards Discovering the Laws of Electricity." |
