The article recalls the experience of the author in the early days of being a band director. The author admits that being a band director is no easy job on the first time. He got his position after the previous director at Topsail School lasted for one semester, angered parents, and lost 50 percent of the enrollment in the band. The author was much delighted after molding a favorable relationship with the parents of the students, thus gaining their support especially during fund raising activities. Whenever problems arose in the band, he called veteran directors for help. |
