Abstrakt: The article profiles U.S. actor Mischa Auer. Almost every movie fan of Golden Age Hollywood is familiar with the performances of Auer. His pop-eyed expressions and madly exaggerated gestures were especially appreciated by film directors. This favorite funny man led a life full of tragedy. On November 17, 1905, in Russia's imperial city of Saint Petersburg, Auer Ounskowsky was the son of an aristocratic Russian naval officer, while his mother was the daughter of a famed violinist, Leopold Auer. Auer. They lost their fortune when Mischa's father was killed in the Russo-Japanese War.
