The article presents an update on a string music program at Jugando Aprendo elementary school in Guatemala as of August 2006. Since 2003, 18 violins, 2 violas and 2 cellos have been sent by Shar Products Co. of Ann Arbor, Michigan for the Jugando school. The vision for the program began in 2002 in discussions between American String Teachers Association member Tom Cappaert and Shar. The program proved to be a success as students learn the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and fiddle tunes. |
