The article discusses the strategy used by the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation to improve their education in Arizona. Education was a concern even before the a casino was opened by the tribe. Education ordinances were enacted by Fort McDowell. An education director was also hired by the community and put together an education program in 2003 that is the envy of tribes across throughout the nation. The tribe starts to track the progress of each child before birth. |
