Abstrakt: The entry describes theater space and architecture in Uruguay. Casa de Comedias was the earliest theater built in Uruguay by private initiative in 1792 in Montevideo. It is inspired by the eighteenth-century Spanish theater style. Other theaters built in the country were the Teatro Cibils and Alcázar Lírico.
