Chapter 8 of the book "The Handbook of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Public Health: A Practitioner's Guide to Service" is presented. It cites several reasons behind the exclusion of same-sex domestic partners from health insurance coverage by many employers. Health care providers with negative perceptions of LGBT patients can influence the way they interact with other LGBT people in the medical field.
