Abstrakt: This chapter discusses the economic importance and control strategies of virus diseases of plants. The effects of virus infection include the reduction in quality as a result of virus symptoms, a reduction in the internal quality of the plant product and yield reduction. Among the methods of controlling viruses and viroids include chemical control and crop rotation and intercropping. Transgenic plants generated with coat-protein-mediated virus resistance have shown a reduced rate of infection.
