Abstrakt: This chapter focuses on the transmission of various plant viruses by aphids. Most aphid species usually colonize on one host plant species, while some polyphagous aphids live on more than one plant species. In noncirculative transmission of viruses, aphids acquire viruses from the epidermis or mesophyll cells while probing on an infected plant, and is transmitted to these cells or lower-positioned cells. In semipersistent transmission, aphids can inoculate three to five plants.
