Abstrakt: Chapter 21 of the book "The Social Work Student's Research Handbook," by Dominique Moyse Steinberg is presented. According to the chapter, all statistical significance tests yield a statistic which is referred to as a test value. Probability theory states that the chances of finding significant difference or association are zero. A test value must be 1.96 or greater for a researcher to claim that a difference or association noted by that test is, in fact, significant. Chi-square test calculates the difference between a researcher's findings and what probability would normally dictate.
