The article presents a biography of magician Andrew Oehler. He was born in 1781 near Frankfurt-am-Main. Oehler was under the tutelage of a tailor at the age of ten. He began his career in 1805 in southern U.S. Oehler was a master showman and technician, and the chief illusion he created was cinematic. He was sent to a Mexican prison due to a controversial performance on magic. At 30, he renounced his career as a magician and returned to tailoring. |
