Abstrakt: The article examines the prediction of the contact hypothesis, that contact between nonretarded and educably mentally retarded (EMR) adolescents will result in the EMR adolescents being viewed as more competent, likeable, and socially acceptable. Likeability, competency, and acceptability scores are computed on the basis of responses by nonretarded and EMR classmates to a survey. Intergroup contact do not significantly modify the attitudes of nonretarded classmates toward the EMR subjects.
