The article focuses on the social work practice with groups in health care settings. Social work with groups is an important part of the practice. Its focus is on the prevention and treatment of problems and the improvement of the psychosocial functioning of a group of individuals and families. The premise behind social group work emanates from the basic need of individuals to establish relationships and connection with others who could help them cope with the ravages of illness and disabilities.
