Abstrakt: The chapter discusses how the social worker should work with the interdisciplinary team involved in the care of the terminally ill. The interdisciplinary team, or the caregiving team, includes the patient and his family, nurses, physicians, and social workers. It discusses the origins of the interdisciplinary team concept, the introduction of the team concept to the acute care hospital and the dynamic interactions of an interdisciplinary team. It explores the concept of the hospital interdisciplinary team and its characteristics.
