The article focuses on the case of Regina vs. Kelly Ann Douglas, Todd Kenneth Wood, Frederick William Quipp and Howard Glynn. Douglas and the rest appealed for their convictions for unlawfully fishing without a licence. Being members of the Cheam First Nation, they contend their permission under the Pacific Fishery Regulations to fish at specific and limited times and locations, under Aboriginal Communal Fishing Licences. The court ruled their appeals be allowed and acquittals be entered. |
