Abstrakt: The article examines an integrated curriculum using state standards in a high-stakes testing environment. A high percentage of students from Massachusetts have failed the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System. Because of this, schools are adding more time to English and mathematics classes. There are seven principles to describe the influence of high-stakes test on education. The desire to hold public school systems and educators accountable for the academic achievement of their students has resulted in the creation of two different educational reform movements.
