The article reports on the visit by U.S. Ambassador and the director of the Iraq Reconstruction Management Office, Daniel Speckhard, to the Umm Qasr Port to highlight the U.S. government's contribution to the port's reconstruction. He met with the Umm Qasr Port North and South Port managers, Iraqi ports director general and officials from the Iraqi Coast Guard and Navy. In 2003, the U.S. has provided assistance to the port and all 21 berths were dredge to receive deep-draft ships and has contributed more than $34 million toward port projects. |
