The article presents a humorous story happened in one concert performance by the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra in the U.S. During 20-minute passage in Beethoven's 9th Symphony, the bass section has nothing to do so the bassists decided to sneak offstage for a quick one at the tavern next door. After several beers one of the bassists complained that they needed to get back on stage but the other one refused and said that he tied the last few pages of the conductor's score together with string to give them more time to drink. On the other hand, the conductor have noticed by the audience that she was seemed agitated when her companion told him that the score is tied and the bassists are loaded. |
