Abstrakt:	The article focuses on a study that investigates the use of Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS) verbal intelligence quotient (VIQ) and the performance intelligence quotients (PIQ) to predict the release rates of patients at an institution of mentally retarded. WAIS was administered to 200 patients at the Pacific state Hospital. Result of the administered tests has showed that VIQ on the WAIS is significant predictor of the release rate for male patients at a state institution for the mentally retarded. Neither VIQ nor PIQ have offered differential predictions for females. The different weight for VIQ and PIQ for males does not reflect the emphasis of the importance of PIQ in the life of mentally retarded.
