Abstrakt: The article examines the validity of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children in predicting several criterial teachers' ratings for primary-grade black, Anglo and Mexican-American children. The controversy emerges partly from the consistent finding that nonwhite children score about one standard deviation lower than do white children on standard tests of intelligence.
