Abstrakt: The article examines whether or not running can be used as an effective treatment for depression. Several major theoretical treatment models of depression suggest that running can lead to mood improvements. Research that link improvement in psychological variables other than depression are also examined. The article reveals that research which claims running has clear anti-depressant properties draws conclusions that are completely unwarranted, and provides guidelines for future research of the issue.
