Abstrakt: Resistance training can improve glucose transport in both normal and insulin-resistant skeletal muscle by enhancing the activation of the insulin signaling cascade and increasing GLUT-4 protein concentration. These training-induced alterations improve the quality of the skeletal muscle and can occur independent of significant increases in skeletal muscle mass. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
