Abstrakt: The article examines the reasons that sparked writer Luigi Pirandello's keen interest in suicide. As European society approached the new age, signs of instability appeared, precipitating what can only be described as a serious crisis. The prospect of self-destruction springs naturally from his somber outlook on life. It may be assumed that the his various experiences with self-imposed death had much to do with his frequent and exceptional concentration on the subject.
