The article focuses on the outcome of the 2006 Beltwide Cotton Conference in San Antonio, Texas. The event was split into two parts with the mornings dedicated to grower forums looking at the issues faced by the U.S. cotton industry and the afternoons were allotted to the discipline-specific research conferences that covered topics such as weeds, insects and crop improvement. Cotton growers were concerned about the impact of energy cost on the industry. Panel sessions were held to look at the pests that will bother U.S. cotton growers. The discussion on herbicide resistance was one of the well attended session of the event. |
