This article presents an encyclopedia entry for technology. A history of technology as it relates to the environment is a history of human production as a way of manipulating the environment and its impact on the global ecosystem. The greatest environmental impacts on a global scale arose from technological developments that occurred during the Industrial Revolution and exponentially during the twentieth century. Numerous technologies have been produced by humans since their emergence more than 25 million years ago if the concept of technology includes tools used to alter humans' interaction with the environment. |
